Ok cb7tuner i need some quick help. I got a A6 intake mani from maple and then my tps went bad on me. I held of on the mani swap and cleaned and swaped the tb out (cus of the tps) as a quick fix. I did not use a gasket at the time and i noticed when the throttle is open about 30% it starts to whistle if i give it more gas it stops... So you thinking its a vac leak form not having a gasket right Well WRONG.. I went and got a new gasket today and went ahead and did the complete a6 swap new gaskets and all. I reset the ecu top off the fluids, Bleed the coolent checked for leaks no gas leaking, no coolent leaking and started up and tried to adjust the idle. 1. problem- idles high before the gasket was replaced i though a vac leak no biggie for a day, idle was at 1300 rpm.. 2nd problem the whistle drove me nuts figured it was the tb gasket also.. Did the swap tonight with new gaskets and guess what Idle is at 1200 rpm i cant lower it any more the screw is all the way turned and still have the damn whistle HELP !!! Im sure there is no vac leakes What the hell else could it be.

Well on yours did you add a new intake or something they do whistle sometimes.
Mine on the other hand sounds like a belt is squeaking. But its not the belts.. Its driving me freaking nuts ! and the idle is so damn high. Its got to be the TB. Thats the only thing i messed with. Before i had no problems what so ever. Swaping that TB out started this mess. Ugh.

ok i found this on google.. not related to honda's but it could be the problem. This makes sense to a point. But i dont want to believe it only cus its all stock and it never did it before i added the new f22a tb. ** A. Turbulence in the airflow stream can create a whistle. This can be created by sharp edges in the air intake system, most notably when a larger throttle body is used on a stock intake that has not been 'Port Matched.' The air along the outer edges of the air intake system and throttle body hits the "wall" of the smaller intake manifold, creating turbulence that can cause a noticeable whistle. Other trouble areas can be the small vacuum ports and the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve port which may empty into the main bore of the throttle body. If these edges are square enough at the entry point of the bore, it can create turbulence, and the air will whistle passed it (similar to blowing over the top of an empty cola bottle just right to get it to whistle). Well the noise i can deal with but the damn idle is my main concern Ya Feel Me.

ah dont worry about it, thats jus the sign of power.........i swap throttle bodies on civic and integra all the time and it whistles often, thats because the motor can now suck up more air.......it only whistle partial throttle because the air that flow past the throttle plate is so fast that it just echoes off the plate because the plate is still close to the surface of the throttle body, but once u get the plate open big enough, then the air on the surface of the throttle body doesnt come as close to the plate therefore it quits whistling......its normal, dont worry about it.....if you dont want it to be all that loud put the stock oem intake on and that will resonate it a bit! as for the idle.....check your sensors! you prabably got a bad sensor, or tps....if u got a gasket leak the idle would go up and down!

OK everyone i got my idle problem kicked in the ass... Still got the whistle but ill keep working on that. Problem was the idle was do damn high.. Well the butterfly valve was not closing enough. Cable had some slack i though all was good. Well anyways its the adjustment allen screw located under the tb rotor, it was keeping the tb open to far.. woooo hoooo BTW there is a huge ass difference in this a6 mani swap over the a1 .. i dont have the iab's hooked up yet and frankley i dont think im going too. This thing pulls hard like there is no tomorrow all the way to redline. This is one of the best mods ive done to date. I give it 2

please drop the remedy in this post .. seems I have the same issue through every gear
at around 2700 rpm ... never noticed it when I put the AEM/SRI on, then one day ..
it sorta came outta nowhere .. everythings hooked up right, and all appears to be tight.
Thanks .. would love to know whats causing it .. I may switch intakes, and see what happens.
A Hui Hou !!!

You mean .. you took the intake off .. and ran without it? Hmmm .. is that .. errr, good to do? lol
I never noticed it when I installed the AEI, it just sorta .. started happening ..weird.
I've tried two different air filters .. still ..
The point that you made above, about something causing a "turbulance in the air flow"
does make sense tho .. I mean .. when my throat gets clogged with flem .. hehehh,
I myself, tend to make weird noises ..
If I find the culprit before you do .. I'll be sure to post it up .. err, the culprit to the whistle,
not my flem issue that is .. LOL !! I already know the culprit there ..
A Hui Hou !!!
