    Serious motor problem/bad idle *video*

Okay Listen to BOTH videos. Sorry they are short. Turn up volume and listen. Look at the rpms. What's wrong here?

mr. h22 sparkle said that my timming was off. I used a craftsman timming gun but you can't set it. I just shot the light in it and move the distributor so that the white mark was lined up with the little V groove. But he said I need to get a gun that has the dial and set it to 15.

Do you think this is why?

Once this is fixed I should be golden. Im going to get this gun with the peice to adjust tommrow I hope, and some coolant. Since you guys said water is bad? so yeah. and fix the little leak at the firewall.

The hose going from the engine to the firewall of the car the right one is leaking. The metal tube kinda bent and yeah Whats the best thing to use around it?

Didn't you flame me the other day about how your car's back together?
It's all good though, hope you get it fixed. I would just replace the bent part.

AFAIK, the white mark is TDC, the red mark is the 15 degree mark. Line it up with the red mark.

and those vids are too brief to tell me anything...

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

my bad, I haven't had aim installed in a while, but let me find some doc's....

The red mark is below the white mark. If you align it with the white mark it will be firing tdc, which you don't want.

Although, its curious, it says illustration is for automatics, perhaps manuals are different, perhaps they don't have the red mark. or maybe your flywheel just doesn't have the mark on it. Is it stock or aftermarket?

If thats the case, if you don't have the red mark, then sparkle would be correct, you would need a timing light that you can adjust to 15 BTDC.

Why dont you take out your #1 spark plug and stick a long screw driver in and turn your crank pulley counter clockwise and stop whenever that screw driver goes all the way up. and check where you at on your flywheel after that.
                  good luck

I thought you don't need to purchase an "advance timing light" for our cars? I regular timing light with a bright xenon bulb should do the trick.

yeah, you dont need a special timing gun. A regular one will do fine. you shoot through the timing mark, and make sure that the two marks on the block (pointers) are aimed at the mark on the flywheel.

What is your CEL for? Those usually tell you where your problem is.

Unplug your IACV, and plug it back in.. make sure its connected all the way.

But it does sound like some majorly off timing. I've done it before.. where the crank was like 180 degrees off... somehow didnt mess anything up, but thats pretty much what it sounded like... didnt want to rev at all.

\I think that means that the timing is off.

Well, if the timing seems to be off, my guess would be to check the timing.

Did you install a timing belt in the engine?

You need to check out the haynes/helms manuals, and make sure everything is lined up (crank, cams, distributor and flywheel). Sounds like the timing belt might be off a few teeth.
