Antenna Install, need help FAST

OK, so im installing a new antenna mast and motor assembly i got from another CB7 owner. The thing is that i got the motor assembly in fine, but i can't get the mast in. For some reason the teeth on the mast aren't catching. IS there something I'm missing here???????? I kinda need to get this done quick, so any help is good. The haynes says to put the teeth in facing rearward and then turn the radio off so the motor pulls it in. Thats all good, but its not working. Ight, help me out guys!

open the motor up and put the antena in. then see what is going on. i did the same thing with mine and noticed that the teeth on the antena were to short. i needed a longer cable. lol so open the motor up. its not hard at all. it takes about 5 min to open. just make sure u don't remove the greese.
