neuspeed shifter on a 90??? help

i kno that the 90 shifter is diff from a 91-93, and thats y the neuspeed SS doesnt fit cuz they hit. but if i take my shifter basket and switch it under the shifter plate, will the SS still hit???

Hey, you sould just get an old shifter out of an old '90 5-Speed, or just take you stock shifter, cut about 2.5 inches out of the middle of the shifter, weld the 2 pieces back together (so you still have stock threads) and then re-install stock shift knob. After doing this it really reduces my throw, and it gives it more of a sports car look.

i've had the neuspeed short shifter adapter and the two brackets that i put together is FAR shorter of a throw than the adapter and the whole project cost me $2. If need be i may start making these for others if the demand is big enough. Mounted the basket underneath also and took out 2 bump stops

How much of that shifter did you cut off? I've been wanting to do that to mine but didn't know how much I'd want to cut off.
