cars electric power keeps turning on and off while driving

ok i know i asked this before and I thought it was the alternator but now i know it isnt and has to be something electrical. Starting a few weeks ago my radio would just shut off now and then and i didnt know what it was. Then starting like a week ago it would shut off very often and my lights were starting to flicker. Now when I drive, the radio, instrument panel, clock, etc turn off and on really fast like a click every minute or so. And right when I rolled into my drive way my car completely died and wouldnt start again just showed the battery and check engine light but total loss of power. But then i thought maybe i should hit my starter to see if that would do anything and it seems like it helped cause my car would start but then shut off after about a minute of driving cause i didnt hit it that hard. I just replaced my starter though with a remanufactured one. Could it have been a faulty installation or a shitty install job by a mechanic? Any help is much appreciated guys.

u check ur alternator belt if its drie rotted seem like its not charging the battery i had that problem before

mine did the same thing, and refused to start in the winter till i decided to replace the battery. it's been 2 months now and never had that problem.

make sure you battery cables are tight

Make sure you have a battery to chassis ground and an engine to chassis ground.

I had the same problem. My neg. wire/nut was almost loose on the terminal. It got bent over time and did not havve contact all the way around and, with vibration from bumps in thr road it would slip off.

anji, i had the same problem too about 3 months ago. i thought it was my alternator as well, and went ahead and ordered a new one and replaced it and still the same shit. my buddy took one look under the hood and told my he could fix it for under 10 bucks. go to the parts store and get some heavy duty battery post clamp things...(haha the parts that clamp on the battery terminal), the ones that wrap all the way around the post. strip youre old ones off, cause they are shit if youre still using the OEM ones, and screw those bad boys on there tight, because like spirit said, theyll come loose if you ride on rough road often. it could be anything from a mech prob sumwhere along the line,a loose connection to the battery or not being grounded right.if its not the alt then its prob one of theses probs.remeber if power goes in its gotta come out!!!!!also make sure there r no cuts in ur wires too.

yeah sounds like your battery posts. Clean em up real good and replace the cables if they are old and rotted. Also invest .98 cents into those little battery post circles. you know the green one and the red one. They truly work because they have baking soda inside which neutrlizes battery acid and will help keep your posts nice and clean.

if u do have alotta corrsion on the battery clean it with a wire brush and pour a ckoe on thw terminal it, the acid in the soda will eat up all the corrsion and then rinse with engine cleaner!! works lika charm!!

thanks for all the replies guys. found out what is was thankfully before i ordered an alternator. it was the fricken ground for my alternator. it was all frizzed up and barely hangin on by a little wire. i think this happended b/c the ground to the chassis for the battery wasnt connected (owner before me) and was puttin all the stress on the alternator ground. Costed me no money to fix so im happy. thanks for the replies though guys.
