ECU's

ok, a lil digging i did and found some info...but i still dont have answers for a few questions i have.
I know the A1/A4's have the PT3 and the A6's have the...PT6(?) I have a 9293 a6 and not only am i wandering what ecu i have but i wanna know the whole deal with ecu's being "chipped". What does that intale? Like, someone posted a thread about putting a chipped p28(from an h22 civic) in an AT cb7 and chirping 1st and 2nd...
My question is, the p28's come from civics/del sol with D16Z/Z6 which are sohc or sohc VTEC...I dont have to have that engine to have that ecu, correct? If i throw in a chipped p28 do i need to be concerned about the TCU as well. I'm just looking to get a lil push before/without the swap and was looking towards ecu/tcu swaps..wandering what kind of advice anybody could give. What i did find:

No...Nothing...i searched all forums and found 20 pages about ECU's and all i found was a stickied thread with a link that lead me to the info above...nothing answered my Q about "chipped" or about what ecu would be best for me....
