You could always find another bolt and punch it in. If not you can take it out. Which rear part? Dont take off the wrong one you dont want your carpet to catch on fire.

The heat shields for the catalytic converter have been removed. The center console feels warm during this hot weather. Is this a problem?

if it's the bottom shield you're talking about, you could try one of those u-shaped exhaust clamps.

if it's a sheild that protects the car from heat, you could shove something between the car and sheild that won't catch on fire. later.

The center console near the auto shift knob is warm, but not hot. The rattling is gone, but cat heat shield is not reused. Is it really a fire hazard?

i had the same problem... theres a flange right behind the resonator on the cat back system i bought for my car that would vibrate against the heat sheild. And there was no flange there on the original exhaust system. so i just took off the heat sheild, cut out the parts where the flange rubbed the sheild (with as sawsall) and threw it back on. but i wouldnt recomend removing it completely. hope you can use the same method for your problem!

I didn't mean to thread jack, but we have the same problem. Why start a new thread for the same problem.

Alex EX, make sure you don't take too much off, otherwise heat will be felt near the center console.
