When I got the car the original exhaust was shot, no muffler, pipe hanging by wire, and the manifold was cracked.
I replaced the manifold and downpipe with an eBay header setup, I then went to my local muffler shop and got them to custom-bend me a pipe and install a little cherry bomb (straight through design) for the time being until I find the muffler I want.
So here's my current setup:
stainless header > stainless downpipe > stainless hi-flo cat > custom-bent 2.25" tubing > cherry bomb
When I say it's loud that's an understatement. I had a setup similar to this on my old '84 Prelude and it wasn't loud at all, but that was a 1.8L motor and still had the original catalytic converter in place.
Well since it's pretty much a done deal now, what would you guys suggest just to quiet it down as much as possible?
I was thinking maybe replacing the cherry bomb straight-thru with one of those cherry bomb turbo II mufflers, that should quiet it down.
Anything else I can do for fairly cheap to quiet it down a lot? I'm not an exhaust expert at all.
Thanks.
