Catalytic converter is hanging loose

My catlytic converter just seperated from the long pipe which goes to the muffler. It happened close to home, so minimal dragging on the steet (at 5mph). There was an exhaust leak for a couple days, until it finally came loose.

Do you think the cat is ok, just the exhaust pipe is bad?

probably your flex pipe, not a cheap fix usually (could run $80 or so)......very common and very annoying

i'd find a cheap used OEM flexpipe if i were you, unless spending $80 or more for that isn't an issue.....i'm poor....everything is an issue for me

I hope you are right. I've had it with these repairs. I will have to get the car towed because I don't want to get stopped by cops and cause more damage.

The long exhaust pipe was replaced. Since the heat shields for the catalytic converter were not reused, the center console gets a little warm.
Art these heat shield really needed?
