Q about cel23(knock sensor)

i changed the manifold gasket today and i noticed that the sensor was already broken, but iv never gotten a cel before for it. now i randomly do, but its not for a reason, my engine runs great and always has. i asked one of my boys who owns the shop and he said my ecu was chipped and the knock was taken out.

anyways, are there any ecu safety features that taken into affect when the knock sensor goes out?? on the way home, it went on again... so i gunned it and it still ran great.

what engine are you running? the knock sensor retards timing under load if it senses knock due to bad gas, etc..

Your knock sensor is probably disabled. When the knock sensor is broken on an OEM ECU it retard the ignition and the bottom end really suffers.
