Help! I Only Have Second Gear!!!!

just like it says....i was driving home from work today and i took off and it started off in second and stayed there...after a lil bit of wiggling of the shifter it worked fine...so i continued to drive. A few miles down the road it shifted into 3rd from 4th. Then back to 4th... every 10 -15 seconds it was doing this. the light in the dash would have the square around both D4 and D3. what could be wrong...im suspecting the shifter cable but not sure. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

you could try looking at the junkyard for a solenoid but i doubt youll find one cause those are the first thing people take out of the car as soon as they see one but since you dont live where i live you might have a better chance than me and the one you should replace is the bottom solenoid OR which might be a little helpful is post it up on the WTB section i recently did that and i got some people to help me out with some solenoids and they were real kool if you want you can use my thread it should be int WTB section

You can replace the solenoid. Usually there are a bit at junkyards they are not the first things taken out as I have noticed. Maybe its diff where the other persons at. its only two bolts if I remember and its located toward the front of the tranny housing. You will be able to see it. I forgot which is which though. If I remember there are screens in the solenoid you can try to clean it out but be prepared for a shit load of tranny fluid to come out so i would have a drain pan handy.

the TCU is located under the passanger side floor exactly under the glove compartment its next to the ECU when you remove the floor mat you will see a piece of steel under that its the TCU and ECU i think the TCU is on the ride side of the plate thats the TCU

If it just so happens they don't have any does anyone have a solenoid for sale?
