    Carbon fiber vs. Heat.

Will anything happen to a CF hood if it gets really hot? My turbo setup made a brownish spot on this metal hood that I have (its not painted) I just don't want to buy a CF hood and then have it heat warped or somethin.

I think CF is made to withstand heat really well, but I'm not sure.
Is your turbo setup making your car hotter than it should be?
Add some water wetter to you rad. and you temps should get better.

nothing should happen to the actual carbon fiber but it will mess up the clear coat after a while and you will have to get it re-cleared.

damn you turbo must be gettin red hot to turn you hood brown like dat hot boost = pointless try heat shielding your turbo and manifold and if you get a carbon fiber hood apply a square of dynamat above the turbo ya it'd look dumb but so would a fucked up CF hood

p.s. dynamat xtreme not regualr dynamat....xtreme resists heat

you might be able to put some heat wrap or insulation on the bottom of your hood to prevent it from getting too hot. do that with a vented hood and you should be fine. just look at a first gen eclipse or talon. they have some sort of insulation to prevent them from getting hot.

Build a heat-shield for your turbo. Install a manual fan switch maybe.....

What he said. Its really not that hard to make a heat shield yourself.

Plastic.....No you dont... use metal. Same stuff they use on exhaust systems. Its like SUS 303 or something like that forgot or just some thicker metal. You just need to bend it a lil hear and there and bolt it down.

the carbon fiber itself will be fine but the clear coat is 50/50. if you get a cheap hood (ebay shit) the clear coat will fade. if you get a quality hood (vis, c-wings etc) you'll be fine. those cheap hoods are cleared with some shit like a gel-coat. put a couple or washers between the hood and hood hinge to angle the hood up in the rear for increased cooling and so what somebody else said about water wetter.

heres a pic of a cheap ebay hood

                              after i cleared it
