    Running rich...

For some reason I decided to smell my exhaust today. I could smell that destinctive, unburnt gasoline smell, meaning I am running a little rich. Not throwing a CEL, and yes the bulb does come on at start-up. I am thinking replcing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor will pretty much fix the rich problem, right?
Now, my problem is finding a store that has the NGK wires, they all have the plugs, but the wires are trickier to find. Are the NGK wires worth it, or will I do just fine with just about any wire set? Any suggestions on some?

Could be your O2 sensor going. I run crazy rich and I have a CEL...but the plug for my O2 sensor is completely detached.

      But, wouldn't I be throwing a CEL with a bad O2 sensor?

I dunno...my car started bucking and hesitating without a CEL, then one day it just came, and it turned out to be a code 41 (O2 sensor). My mileage is also abysmal. I dunno, just something to consider.

I get pretty good milage still, as long as I shift before 4k every time.

Im running rich with my tune it could be my 02 since it popped up a couple of times but it went away after I restarted the car. If you cant find the NGK Blues the OEM ones will work just as well. If your change doesnt help I would take a look at your o2 sensor next.

i would do a tune up like you said. Also check your spark plug gap on the plugs now.See if the plugs look carbon fouled. The only way to see if the o2 sensor is bad is to take it to a shop and have them hook up an oscilloscope (sp?).

No. Not if it falls between 250mv and 300mv. This is a bad O2 but the parameters are not met to set a code.

or if you have a DVOM you can do it yourself.

I had NGK's for sale...always when someone needs them i dont have!!

Well, you shouldn't be smelling gasoline smells. Do you have a catalytic-converter?
You can find those NGKs online, they run around $50.USD or so without the coil wire. I recommend the NGKs over Bosch set. Dont waste your money on 8-9mm wires. You may also want to think about replacing the fuel filter, a Fram one is sufficient.

Yeah, I was gonna do the fuel filter soon anyways.

I do definately smell un-burnt gasoline from the muffler. I have a stock cat.
