    Power window trouble

Ive had an ongoing problem with my passenger side power window.

you could roll it down from the passenger side, but not roll it up, i had to use driver side to do that.

well today the driver side window did that, went down, and wouldnt go back up.

i knew it was the switch because down still worked.

so i took out the switch part and peeled out the rubber piece around the switch and looked at the connectors.

the bottom connector (the one that touches when you push the button up) is black.

so i scraped it a bit with a skrew driver, pushed it down some, and hooked it back up.

when i pushed the button, the window worked. HOWEVER that connector got red hot instantly and started smoking. Tried it again and same thing happened.

So the window works, but it gets red hot when the button is pushed.

i believe the problem is the same on the passenger side. but before i take it apart i wanna fix the driver side first.

Im wandering if i will need a new switch, or if anyone knows what could cause that piece to get hot like that and if there might be a way to fix it.

looks like this (mspaint because i cant find my camera)

usually things get hot when they have a bad connection or a bad ground. Check that wire for resistance to ground or to it's source. If it is giving you a strange and incontinuous reading then you have a bad wire, or something is pulling too much juice. Like if your regulator goes out on your alternator it fries your battery... similar with this if say your window is pulling too much juice then it could burn up that contact or the wire.

trace that wire and find were it's connected. Check between switch and that point for resistance and continuity (in this case it's the same) that should fix the over heating problem. If not change your power window waterpump.........

if your wires check out good that means your switch is shot. I do have an extra one for a 4dr. If you wanna pay shipping it's yours.
