The gauge sounds like it is done for...a lot of the signals go through the gauge cluster; such when the door closes, the belt(s) retract... as indicated in the car diagram in the cluster...

                    weird?

It really sounds like a grounding problem. Since you already checked all id check again just in case.

check the fuse under the hood that supplies all the power to the inside. Should be a 40 or 50 amp or something like that. Don't just look at it, stick a meter up to and see if you have continuity from terminal to terminal.

Also check to make sure the connections to the fuse are ok.

Check the plugs goin to the the under dash connections to make sure they are all plugged in and no burnt wires.

For the grounds, use the meter to test for continuity to ground instead of just looking at them.

Test every wire in the underdash fuse box to see if any of them are getting +12V!!!! I'm guessing they all test dead!

It sounds like you are gettin 0 power inside the car so I'd lean towards underhood fuse box wiring or fuse issue. Or a connection between the u/h fuse box and u/d fuse box.

For the Automatic Shift Release, make sure to check your Brake Pedal Switch. When mine went out, I could not shift into gear without using the key first. But it also affected my brake light indicator.

Problem found when 2.2azul was replacing the fuses under her dash where the kick panel was 1 of the fuses wasnt blown but was missing and it didnt have an indicator of where that fuse belonged to. There was no label that section saying where it belonged to was blank. She used the fuse for something else and that 1 fus was wired into everything. Thankgod glory found it. Now i gotta get my ass out there and help out with her altenator. glory went to a party. Now its jsut me once again. Thanks everyone for the support
