Rev the engine and have someone tell you whether they open or not. Or, if you have a video camera and/or no friends, point the camera at the lever and start taping.

Or you could try rigging a complex array of mirrors......

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

If you have a manual transmission and a short ram, you should hear a slight change in tone at 4800, kinda like SOHC VTEC in the Civics.

You may or may not feel anything, depending on circumstances, but you should hear it.

you can just open the throttle plate with your hands and try to rev the motor up until you see the diaphram (spaceship-looking thing) move to the open position.

when your car is off, the diaphram leaves the butterflies OPEN. when you start the car the vacuum created closes the butterflies. at the right rpm, around 4k, there will not be any vacuum thus opening the butterflies.

Theres a rotor similar to the throttle rotor on the right side of the intake mani. The IAB diaphram is connected to it. If you can open and close that rotor when the car is on the IAB's are open. To test if they open up just have someone slowly rev to 4800rpm

turn the car on youll notice the butterfly on the side will be cocked back. After turn the car off and the vacuum is depleted the butterfly valve elever will cock forward.
