    Emergency Help!

I am at work and I can't get my new accord to start. When I turn the key "on" (2 clicks) non of the lights come on, then when I acutally go to start all the lights come on and the car starts up, but when I let the key "return" to the "running" position the car dies. What's the problem?!

AHHH I am stuck at work!

my bet is that your switch is messed up, which accord is it? my friend had this problem on his cb7, exact thing, for him it was his ignition switch.

    good luck

Yeah well, try revving the engine a bit as it is starting. I think my battery is dying, because when I stall my car, and start it up it will start, then cut off, if I do not blip the throttle.

I wish people who didn't know shit would not talk

If his battery was dead it wouldn't turn over the engine: let's see the logic of this: it can put out 650 AMPS of power to turn over the engine, but not 50 for lights and dingers in the car, oh it must be a dead battery!
I am with the guy on the Ignition Switch. It is the only logical conclusion to why the car wouldn't know that the key was turned.
There is a mechanical device that rises and falls with the key in the ignition. Try to pull one off a Junkyard car but if you do you will have to re-key your locks, or get one from the dealer and have them "code" it for your key.
          Good Luck.

i agree with ignition switch, first thing i would try is taking a digital multimeter and measuring for voltage at the igniton switch wires, black with yellow stipe should be reading 12v on 2 clicks.

Alright here's the deal. I got the car home, I figured out that there is a spot about halfway from off and start when the lights come on (it's very small) so what I did was start the car and then just back off the key about 5mm so the starter would stop spinning, then I reved up the car and pulled it back to the spot where I remember the dash lights coming on, and I was able to drive it home. It takes a couple trys to "hit the spot" but it's drivable. I am pretty positive it is something with the ignition switch, it just sucks becuase this problem is so random.

I had the exact same problem a few years ago. Except that mine shut off at speed and I had to pull over and figure out exactly what you just figured out. I replaced the ignition switch that same day and haven't had any problems since. The part was about $60 from the dealer who had it in stock!

Do you have to rekey? or can you still use the same key?

If you buy the part from the dealer, they will "re-code" the ignition to the key, they come as a blank.... when my car was jacked I had to do the same thing cause they filed it down and my invoice says: "Ignition Switch: $51.62" "Re-Code Lock(s) 1 $45.00" So looks like it might be a 100 bucks, or maybe take it to a locksmith for cheaper.
