Nope, you don't have to. Right now the light around the park symbol is always on in my car (Hence my sig ).

So you're saying, I can take out my whole automatic cluster, and swap in a manual cluster w/o any problems? like wiring wise?

No problems whatsoever electrically. Plugs right in and works right off the bat. When I did my swap, I changed out the cluster and went from 247000 miles to 75000 miles

It's a piece of cake and you shouldn't have any issues, just swap them out and you'll be fine.

Just be sure to rewind the cluster's oddometer because its illegal by law to sell a car without the display of the actual miles.

It's not illegal (in CA) if the buyer is notified that it is not original mileage. I wrote down the old mileage and the new mileage when I swapped it out and put down the date on a sheet of paper and put it in with my receipts that I keep for the car.

If you try to defraud someone by telling them that it is the original mileage when you know full well that it is not, THAT is illegal.

In CA there is a box on the title transfer that you check if it is not original mileage or has exceeded the mechanical limits of the odometer (ie; over 100,000 miles on a cluster that only goes up to 99,999). Best idea is to check the laws of your state to be sure.
