Misshift from over 100mph to 2nd gear....

Well, I had accidently shift to 2nd gear while doing 110. I was suppose to shift into fourth when it happen. I have an h22a with a accord tranny, so 3rd gears goes up to 110. After the misshift, I quickly pop it in netruel and shift to 5th gear. The car was making some noise for a minute, but I couldn't make out where it's coming from exactly except from the passenger right side. Then the car suddently die when I put it in netreul for longer then 3 second. It seems like I need to rev it to prevent it some dieing. Once it die, It's takes a while to crank the car before it even start up. I made it to the next stop light and it die again on netruel. It was even harder to start up the car this time. I kept on cranking it while stepping on the gas and the car finally started after 20-30 second , it doesn't die if rpm is over 1.5 and runs fine, no nosie. what could be wrong?

i think the car needs a new driver.. shifting into second instead of fourth. pay attention

Well, what happen was that I was racing a friend not crusiing at 110. I couldn't get it to go to 4th gear two times, so I yank it a little harder and accidenlty shift 2nd instead.

Do a compression check to see if you bent a valve. That shit is critical

Well I had try to start it up and it does takes a few extra crank to start it up, but once it's running, the engine shakes. I open the hook to see and it seems like the driver mount is shaking with the engine. the exhaust also makes a choking flow sound. Any idea

you probably "mechaically over reved" the engine, you could have bent some valves. the tbelt could also have jumped time or even shaved some teeth off. i have an s2k long block that was over reved like this. the end result was a new engine. metal and aluminum particals were spread through out all four cyls scoring the walls pretty deep. two valves were broken off and all four pistons damaged pretty badly. the cyl head was toast as well. ill dig it out of my shed and take some pics to post. i guess the kid said he was going about 115 and put in first gear. the best part, there was under 200 miles on the car. oops!!!!!!

yeah that probably did some internal damage to the engine. Bent valves are probable.

could be worse, atleast it didn't go Kaboom and take out the whole motor.

Hardlesson learned, now are you gonna upgrade or just fix what broke?

shouldnt rev limiter have prevented any real damge for at least a second or two. or were you too slow to get it back in neutral. check they valvetrain. i know everyone is telling you about their stories so why not mine. check this, my friends camaro SS with worked vette heads, vette cam, the works. well he did this too. some asshole that owned the car before him removed the pin or something that prevents a second gear drop.(second gear lock out) kinda like first gear lockout that prevents you from getting into that gear above a certain speed, well he also had his rev limiter removed. so in turn he bent nearly every pushrod, and nearly wiped out the cam. good luck with your shit
