    Exhaust problem!!!

I recently put a header on my car and now it sounds like crap (really raspy), before this all i had was stock back to the cat and after that was custom 2.25" all the way back to a muffler that my buddy told me was good (he works at an exhaust shop) i forget the brand. It sounded great then, with very little raspyness...I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why it is so bad now. Shouldn't a header make it better?

Can you pinpoint where the "raspy" sound is coming from? You very well have an exhaust leak or your header gaskets are off...

Check your flex pipe...those tend to go first...and ask your friend who works at an exhaust shop to hook you up with a lift so you can see where exactly the exhaust leak is coming from...

    good luck!

There is no leak and the flex is brand new..all the gaskets are fine...the raspyness is coming out the muffler...sounds like those ricer cheap exhaust, and im pissed

i'm not sure how installing a header made the muffler raspy. i guess maybe its because the header creates more of an airflow, but i've never really heard of this occuring. i guess your only option is new muffler or different muffler tip.

usually if you dont have a resonator it sort of makes the car BUZZ a lot and you could mistake the car for a huge bumble bee!

Currently my bumper is off cuz im doing some body work so i can't drive it without plates...so until im done with this i can't get down to the muffler shop. Im wondering if i should just get a new muffler, what does everyone else have that makes a nice low tone on our car.

congratulations my friend. your car officially sounds like a "honda". I am glad that you are happy. if you want it to go away, spend the money and buy a tanabe hyper medallion or something compatible to that brand. i am sorry.

either get a bigger resonator/ or get one if u don't have one. it's not necessarily the muffler causing the problem.

Ok so today i was driving my car home from my friends house and when i was on the highway this spot in the header that i pluged up blew out...it was a spot for another O2 sensor. Since mine was in the header itself i had to plug that one...i guess it wasn't plugged good enough cuz it blew out and now it sounds like a tank driving down the street so i guess that could have been my problem all along. i hope it is!!!
