i am a firm believer of genuine honda transmission fluid. i would not use anything less or more. of every honda tech i've talked to they always highly recommend using honda MTF or ATF. they recommend it but you don't have to use it. it's your preference. consider this: when i used an off brand MTF, my tranny had a very small grind in 3rd gear but when i used honda MTF it went away. first hand account made me a believer.

even the power steering fluid needs to be OEM honda. i'm starting to become a believer in honda coolant as well. i'm an OEM whore !

why waste money on Honda MTF when it is NOT specified for 90-93 accords?

                        techinfo.honda.com states:

                        Use only SAE 10 W — 30 or 10 W — 40, SF or SG grade.

i have had better luck with syncromesh or other gear oils myself, but havent had a bad time with honda mtf either.

Because it is designed for ALL honda trannies, yes you can use regular grade oil but its not as smooth as honda MTF, not a fan of synchromesh at all.

Honda does NOT specify Honda MTF until 1998 for the accord. In 1994 honda did it for the Integra, and 1996 for the Civic.

If you really want to say Honda is wrong about what should go into their transmissions I guess that is on you then.
