    Thumping sound

I have discovered this problem a few weeks ago but now it occurs all the time. When the rpm guage drops to its normal idleing point i hear this thump the comes from somewhere under the car, When its loud i could actually feel it from under my feet (divers side). it sound like rubber but im not sure. its a thumping sound for sure though. It happens all the time now like, i would be driving and when i stop at a red and the rpm slows down to its idleing point i get a thump. when i reverse and then stop to and it goes to normal idleing point i get a thump. i could be in neutral or park and rev the engine (automatic) and when it gets back down to normal idleing i get a thump. i have no idea what it is. any suggestions will be appricated. thanks

    idea

motor mount? more namely the rear engine mount by firewall

sounds like the solenoid isnt engaging. theres fluid which switches back and forth to make it softer or harder, especially depending on rpm. this is only on automatics i believe. manual trannys have a different mount. also check the vaccum line from the intake manifold to the mount..so its not having a vaccum leak.

thanks, i will look into this as soon as i have some time (weekend). I have another question, how serious is this problem, can it cause other things to get messed up by prolonging fixing it?

the only possibility is that itll put stress on the other motor mounts, and possibly tear them. not likely to happpen..but you never know.

but i will recommend you just replace them all at once. your other mounts are probably suspect as well.

when i put my new vtec f22b1/f22a.. i used the f22a mounts that i got from
ebay..cuz i wans't gonna pay dealer prices for comprabale mounts.

If the mounts are indeed the problem and you plan on replacing them, you may wanna look into a set of mounts from Energy Suspension. They make performance mounts. The only thing is that they don't make the rear mount for our automatics, because like xfactortype1 mentioned, the rear mount on our automatics are liquid filled. But, the other three mounts are interchangeable between the autos and manuals if I'm not mistaking...

I plan on buying a new rear mount and replacing the other three with Energy Suspension mounts myself down the road. It's just a thought. Of corse, you may not be going for major performance out of you cb7, in which case regular mounts will be just fine! Hope you get it lined out and fix the thumping! Best of luck to you.
