MSD 6A install ?

just wanna make sure i got this right...i don't need the ballast resistor or the points wired to my coil, right? so the connections shoud be coil wire to distributor, red wire to battery power, black wire to ground and orange to switchable 12V source, correct? i've read the manual for the 6A but i'm dumb enough to misinterpret my 1st grader's homework so i wanna be sure...thanks all.

our setups don't need the ballast resistor or points wired up. seems to me you've got the install right.

from the MSD 6A box:
heavy red (+) to battery
heavy black (-) to battery

for an **external coil** setup, here's what you do:

cut the wire harness between before the coil (enough for the coil to have an adequate amount or wire length)

from the MSD 6A box:
white wire connects to the wire harness side (-) either green or blue
red wire connects to the wire harness side (+) yellow and black/yellow *these will have to be spliced together

orange wire connects to the external coil (+) yellow and black/yellow *these will have to be spliced together
black connects to the external coil (-)either green or blue

thanks...that was exactly what i was looking for...i already have the external coil set up so i'll just remove the ballast resistor and run those wires to the 6A according to your instructions...thanks again.
