Sorry to jack your thread Mate, but that's one thing I've noticed a fair bit of on here is how many of you talk about having to pass an Emission's Test. You poor bastards!! How often does this happen?
Here in NSW, Australia, we have to have a Roadworthy Inspection done for Rego every 12 months, but no Emission Test. My JDM F22A9 hasn't even got an EGR Fitted.
Any newer that 67' although that might have changed. Its not as strick as Cali. They charge $27 bucks your first time thru. If you fail the first and get it repaired your second time throuogh is free. They require you car to be tested every 2 years.

hey im moving to phoenix AZ in 4 weeks and im wondering what kind of emissions testing there is and how stricked it is
thanks
you got to pass co ( 1.2 )and hydrocarbon (220 ) test . if it does not pass you cannot renew the plate tags..
tests are mondatory once a year ,unless you got a brand new car than you can go 2 years on the tags,

The only two parts of AZ that have emmisions testing are the Phoenix metro area, and the Tucson Metro area.
There isn't any for the rest of the state. Once you get it registered you just send off for the renewal tags and Bam go another 1 to 2 years. No safety inspections, no nothing.
I reckon they should have those Emission Laws over here. It's a bastard following some shit box Mitsubishi Sigma with a Sticking Auto-choke or any Mitsubishi for that matter. They send out more smoke signals than a bunch of startled Apache's.
do you know if the Dohc F22B will pass i think my o2 sensor is out too so i know ill have to change it and i just got a new egr valve
also is there and noise laws cause dont have a muffler on my cb7 and im wonderin if ill need to put one on?
Bringing this thread back, I wouldn't go without a working o2 sensor, as for the no muffler I wouldn't try that either, also CEL = auto fail. The emissions down here can sometimes be strict as shit I know when my car was lowered on sprints they wouldnt budge on getting it on the rollers.
I'm not sure about AZ cuz I'm not in one of the above mentioned Metro areas, but I grew up in Cali, and not only do they do an emmissions test, but a visual inspection to make sure all the parts are installed AND that it is the correct engine for your vehicle...... an EX wouldn't passs visual with an f22a1 without having to go to a refaree....... just something to think about and find out for sure
cost me assloads of money to get my car to pass.... but it needed all that work anyways.
It wouldn't have been a problem if you had a catalytic converter douchebag! Nah Arizona is easy dude. My car has upgraded exhaust, and stock cat and I passed with 41 Hydrocarbons out of 200 Allowed. 4 cylinder, Fuel Injected cars have nothing to worry about at all IMO.
i fixed the O2 sensor the wires were showing and some how it threw off the readings now its got an egr code so im gonna try cleaning it and hope thats all i need then imgonna run a smog test here at wyo tech that way i can fix anything i need to. do you have any meets there in the phoenix.
Yeah we have been averaging about 2 per year in the last year or so. There was supposed to be one again at NOPI this weekend, but I wasn't able to go. Plus, I think another storm system is moving in and there is a fair chance of rain.
