    Timing my H22a correctly! help

I think when i put my h22a in awhile back that I did the timing wrong. alright here we go you know on the cam gears (stock) they have 2 lines on each one and a arrow. which ones do you line up evenly with the head? The arrow or the horrizonal marks? What is the correct way to time it. When i did it i lined up all the marks on all the gears with the marks on the block, but on the cam gears i lined the horrizonal marks evenly with the head was that good or bad?

I let the arrows point straight up and the lines pointing to across each other. Careful though 1 mark slightly off and youll notice your car will start to act like shit remember they have to be lines up perfectly though.

        H22A Timing Belt Replacement

        Main Belt Removal

        1. Remove Timing Belt Covers.
        2. Rotate Engine Anti-Clockwise until the Timing Marks are aligned with Arrows Pointing to 12 O'Clock and Lines Horizontal and Facing each other.
Normal Engine rotation is Anti Clockwise.
TDC can also be checked at the flywheel.
The Camshafts should be locked using 2 x 5mm pin punches.

        3. Loosen the Tensioner Locking Bolt and lever Belt Tensioner away from the Belt.
        4. Remove Balance Shaft Belt.
        5. Lever the Main Belt Tensioner away from the Main Belt and tighten the Locking Nut.
        6. Remove the Main Belt.
        7. Remove the Auto Tensioner.

        Main Belt Installation.

        1. Timing Marks must be still aligned.
        2. Fit the Main Belt in this order:
        Crankshaft
        Camshaft
        Water pump
        3. Invert Auto Tensioner in a vice.
        4. Remove the Maintanence Bolt.
Care must be exercised with the Oil in the Auto Tensioner.
If any Oil is lost, the Auto Tensioner should be replaced.

        5. Place a flat blade screwdriver into the Maintenance Hole of the Auto Tensioner.
A Honda Special Tool called a "Stopper" (P/N 14540-P13-003) is available to do this.
        6. Slowly turn the screwdriver Clockwise while compressing the Piston.
        7. When compressed, refit the Maintanence Bolt and torque to 8Nm.
        8. Fit the Auto Tensioner with the "Stopper" in place.
        9. Remove "Stopper".
        10. Loosen the Tensioner Locking Bolt approx 2/3 to 1 turn.
        11. Tighten Tensioner Locking Bolt.
        12. Rotate the Crankshaft Anti-Clockwise 3 Teeth.
        13. Loosen the Tensioner Locking Bolt 2/3 to 1 turn and re-tighten.
        14. Rotate Engine Anti-Clockwise to #1 Cylinder at TDC Compression Stroke.
        15. Check the Camshaft and Flywheel Timing Marks are aligned.
The tensioner for the Main Belt also tensions the Balance Shaft Belt.
Use a 6mm x 1mm x 10mm Bolt to lock the Main Belt Tensioner in place.
There is provision for this to the left of the Tensioner Pulley on the Timing Cover.

        Balance Shaft Belt Installation

The Balance Shafts have to be set up correctly before fitting the Belt.
Important: Make sure Seal Retainer is fitted first.

        1. Remove the Blanking Bolt from the rear of the Engine.
It will be in line with the Rear Balance Shaft.
        2. The Rear Balance Shaft is locked by inserting a steel shaft in through the back of the Block.
        (Suitable Phillips Screwdriver will do)
        3. Rotate the Oil Pump Sprocket until the Shaft (or Screwdriver) slides in 74mm.
If the Shaft (or Screwdriver) won't go all the way in, rotate the Shaft.
        4. Align the Mark on the FRONT Balance Shaft Pulley.
        5. Fit the Balance Shaft Belt.
        6. Loosen the Balance Shaft Adjusting Nut.
Don't forget to remove the Steel Shaft from the Balance Shaft.
        7. Rotate the Engine Anti-Clockwise one complete revolution. (360°)
        8. Tighten the Adjusting Nut.
        9. Remove the 6mm x 1mm x 10mm Bolt.

        Tightening Torques
        Camshaft Gear Bolts..................................... 51Nm
        Crankshaft Bolt (H22A1)................................ 220Nm
        Crankshaft Bolt (H22A4)................................ 220Nm
Front Balance Shaft Bolt (H22A1.................... 30Nm
Front Balance Shaft Bolt (H22A4)................... 30Nm
        Front Cover Bolts.......................................... 12Nm
        Tensioner Bolt (H22A1)................................. 45Nm
        Tensioner Bolt (H22A4)................................. 45Nm

i doubt its valve timing then, check your grounds.Especialy the one that bolts on the tranny, unbolt it and sand all the rust off it.

                Check The Basics First

                Check Battery Voltage.
                Check Alternator Charge Rate.
                Check Engine Vacuum Reading.
Check Fuel Pressure - Engine Running
Check for Retained Fuel Pressure Loss- Engine Off
                Check Compression Pressures.
                Check Base Ignition Timing.
                Check Base Idle Speed.
                Bleed Cooling System.
                Fit New Spark Plugs.
                Clean Out Throttle Body.
                Clean Injectors.
