    "S" light problem

    Hello,
I just joined this forum and I have a couple of questions. I have a 91 Accord EX (auto) and the "S" light is blinking. Here's my problem, from a dead stop, my car starts out in 3rd gear (no acceleration at all) and it will not shift. I jumped the connectors and got 2 codes: 15 and 14 (from the "check engine" light). But, on the research that i found it says to check the red LED on the TCM and get the codes from there (which i got, 8-1-2-7). My question is which code would fix my problem? I have already replaced the speed sensor and the TCM (bought from a junk yard and thought it was the problem). I checked the old TCM and saw a burnt resistor on the board. Other then this problem the car runs great. Any suggestion would help. Thanks in advance...

There is a specific resistor inside the transmission control unit that goes bad....very common. I usually just pull it apart and solder in a new resistor. You could buy a new trans control unit, but they are pretty pricey.

..and the resistors are dirt cheap at wal-mart or meijer.

Yeah I say go with the resistor. I went out and bought a new trans control unit about a year ago and after I replaced it, the problem still existed. Turns out my speed sensor was unplugged. If you DIY, you will save a bunch of cash. Cheapest I found a control unit was 90 bux. I think a dealership one was about $400.
