I just installed a f23a with manual conversion into my 91 EX, and the shit just can't get right. First off the idle is erratic and I have no vac leaks. Then I went to drive it for the first time and it jerks when I juss let out the clutch and ready to give it gas to accelerate. Hard jerks too, lol. Feels like just learning to drive manual jerk, every gear this happens at about 800-1000 rpm when gear is engaged. It will rev in neutral fine. I found thread with similar problem and he pointed to distributor. What is the dizzy could go wrong to cause this. I took it off, inspected it and sprayed it with brake cleaner and it does the same jerk shit. I also inspected timing and it was all lined up. But now, since i was revving the motor a lil to try and take off, I am hearing banging from the motor, I can hear it through the headers if i'm right. Oil is kinda low but low oil never caused this kinda noise with my f22a4, (ahh, the good ol days). Anyway if anyone has insight, knowledge, or some stupid shit to say, let me know. Thanx

Don't take chances man put oil in the damned thing. As for the idle, if you have no vac. leak, check to make sure you routed all the vaccuum lines correctly. I'm not sure i really have a clue to what you're talking about otherwise, but if its hitting hard when you shift it could be bad motor mounts, or they could be bolted on wrong. Hmm maybe the f23a swap is the problem????

if oil doesn't solve it, do a good valve check, and the idle, might be air in your cooling system, open the radiator run the car sqeeze the hose and just watch to see if the level lower's and raise after awhile if it does, that measn theres air in the system and u should just let it bubble and run all over the place and add more, also could be your FIV ,might be losse, turn it counter clockwise to lower the idle, and clock wise to raise the idle, thats what i did for Idle..Last edited by ehulst; 02-18-2006, 12:41 PM.93 Accord- SOLD

F22, you got the noise right. And yeh maybe the F23 swap is the problem but at least I have more displacemnt for a H22 head now. Anyway the F23a gas has a FAV but it is a vacuum outlet and not a screw and thats what I put my Map sensor (vacuum) onto. It got freezing cold so I didnt bother with the oil for now but it still shouldnt make those kinds of noises. Also, the problem is not in shifting, it seems like some kind of ignition component is breaking down under load (under engaged gear). Also, besides checking spark plug wires and distributor what else can be checked for ignition timing.
