    vacuum question

My car idles usually at about 2500-3000 (its high, i know). i was looking at my stepdad's cb7 the other day, and right behind the Intake manifold theres a vacum. Ikd if its because its a auto and mine is a 5-speed...but i was wondering if this could be my problem. I have 2 studs on my firewall for the vacum, but its not there....

    i will get pics tomorrow.

No idea what "a vacuum" is supposed to mean, but I am guessing that there is just an extra thing for the auto, or emissions or something.

Does the car idle that high all the time? Mine right now idles at 3k until warm which is VERY annoying...push in the clutch, and it rev's up, and people think i dont know how to drive a stick.

But very well could be a loose/torn vacuum line/leak.

well mine is like yours aero but when mine warms up and i cut it off and then back on...it sits around 750-1500 and just bounces...and my clutch does the same thing...but next time you have your hood up...look right behind the intake mani and there should be a vacuum ...and if your facing the front of your car then look on the back of the intake mani on the drivers side, there should be a vacuum hose.
...like i said..i will get pics tomorrow

Your probably talking about the AC (Air conditioner) Idle. Attached to the firewall right?

I think what you see on your dad's car is the solenoid for the auto rear engine mount....

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Did you see f22-guru's post about idle problems? Try spraying TB cleaner around the IM while its running and see if the idle goes up or stays the same. If it goes up it's an idle leak. Have you adjusted "the white thing"? No cel's?

Hey man sounds like you might need a idle air control valve if the idle is bouncing around like that. But if you think you may have a vaccum leak which you very well could, just pull of the intake start up the car and cover the throttle body up COMPLETELY so the motor can get no air. If you don't have a vaccum leak the car should shut right off, if you do then the car will stay running, maybe just rough. If you do have a air leak then yea take TB cleaner and spray around the intake manifold, you will be able to tell where the leak is because you'll hear the idle change. One other thing if you thing you found your air leak about sprayin one sure way to make certain thats where it is, is to cover up the TB again and spray that spot again now the car should or might come very close to stalling out when you spray it again if that is where your leak is at . If you don't have an air/vaccum leak then i would try, replacing your IACV (idle air control valve) its really simple, you can do it in like 10 min at home.
Just my .02 oOo and GOOD LUCK man hope you fix your car

aight...i have the pics(sorry for the quality...)

^thats the part i was talking about on the back of the intake mani

^this is the Plug/nipple that my stepdad made to put on the thing in the pic above

                            ^thats with out the plug

thats with the plug(right after i put it on)

this is where it got to with the plug after about 10 min.

This is with the plug on.

It took a while for the RPM's to go down, but i could tell a big difference with it on..it felt like it had alot more power... thats always a good thing
any one know what the part is on the back of the intake mani?

                            thanks
