ok, I have a turbo f22a. It is on my 91 accord that came with the internal ignition coil. I converted it to external using the stock distributor. I now suspect a faulty ignitor because it wont start sometimes. I want to know if I bought a brand new one for a 92-93 accord that had the external coil if it would work? I know i would have to run some wires but I dont like the look on non stock conversions. I would rather use the distributor that was meant for an external coil rather than hacking up a new one. Does anybody agree? I am running uberdata also!!!! thanx

Ya, I was going to do that but if you ever converted a 90-91 to an external coil than you know running the wires from the dizzy to the coil can suck. I just want to have a cleaner look than what I have now its not that I am having problems but I hate seeing 2 wires hangin' out of my dizzy. it looks cheap. and there is no other way to route the wires I must avoid my charge pipes and the airfilter for my turbo inlet!!!!!!
All I want to know is if uberdata will read the sensors from 92-93 accord external coil distributor. or will it not function properly doing so?

ya it works i have a ext coil dizzy on my car with int coil harness but i would really suggest just converting the dizzy cuz if i could do it again i would do it that way looks a lot cleaner if you put ext coil dizzy on it you just tap into wires and it think thats ugly ill try and get pics of the uglyness

Out of Interest, Why is the External Coil better than the Internal Coil for you guys. Our JDM CB7's in OZ have all got internal coils. I'm yet to see one with an external coil. Is it due to the availability of modded coils or just a thing to have external coils?
The Internal Coil is a much neater setup and less prone to crossfire from the coil lead.
I haven't had any problems with my internal coil setup.

I am pretty sure 2point6 is still running a stock internal coil distributor and he is putting down 260WHP with 12-1 compression. The stock ignition systems are pretty strong, even the internal coils. I remember reading a post on here somewhere where somebody asked him why he didn't run something after market, and he said that it didn't make a difference.

Well say if you have a turbocar id find it more beneficial when you tune it rich. That way youll get a slight better gas efficiency that the usual stock coil setup which means more miles by the gallon when it burns more complete.Last edited by h22sparkle; 02-09-2006, 05:32 PM.

BTW: What does tuning it rich have to do with what type of coil setup is used.
