well i checked it yesterday. my distributor cap is fine,it's nice and dry.. there seems to be good spark coming from all the terminals headed towards the sparkplugs. but while messing around the wires on the sparkplugs, i realized that cylinder 1 was dead by taking off the spark plug wire while the engine while running. the engine did not bog more than it already was; but it bogged down more when i took off the plug wires from each of the other cylinders individually.

at first i thought it was just the spark plugs. so then i decided to switch plugs with another cylinder.... and repeated the above steps... and stilll..... only cylinder 1 seems to be dead.

the sparkplugs were dry from oil and water. dist.cap was dry. there is spark from the cap going to the plugs...so am i correct to conclude that cylinder 1 is messed up?

    what to do?

if you can find out what the problem is by yourself, but go 2 a mechanic and have it checked out. If you want, you can go 2 mine. He'll check it out for free. He won't charge unless you have anything done. It's called New Tech Honda Specialists in Temple City. The two mechanics there are awesome.

I could....mm.. .but i live so far awayyyy... I live in Riverside.. I have a mechanic out in san bernardino who's pretty good too. thanks though. starkrice gave me a call earlier and told me to try something. He said that I probably have water in my cylinders. So I'll try doing what he told me to do, hopefully it works... so i can go to Tabtuesday tom! heheh

Starkrice helped me out with my problem. it sounds better now but it's still running kinda bad. What he told me to do was to let the car idle and rev it up easily while having one spark plug off at a time. this will 'bleed out' water that went into the cylinders. I needed to do it on all 4 cylinders. I could actually see water kinda spray out from the cylinders when i first start the car without the plugs.

Thanks Alex. I'll just probably have to keep re-doing it until it actually runs properly. hehe.. thanks guys.

Thats interesting, didnt think that could hapen. i'lv washed my engine w/o covering a damn thing, and obviously just not directly spraying any componrents like the filter element of dizzy or electrical crap.... guess i should be nmore careful next time...... but on a nother note, my CB sounds like a WRX, well it sounds better because its a CB that sounds like a scubby! i think its just because i gotthe head milled over 45 thoiusandths tho.... but at idle it rumbles like a mean mother fucker and when i'm on it that shyt screams just like, but not as liud as a scubby with an exhaust..... once i run my 3" with my Apexi it probly will tho, lol....

mm.. well i re-did the whole process again this morning. but still the same thing. it still bogs but it's way better than before. my sparkplugs are all black though. maybe the car is due for some major maintenance?? im actually taking it to my mechanic tom.

chronicboost: water probably sipped (sorry if i mispelled) into the head somehow, i covered most of the electronics/electricals and i didn't spray with high pressure water, i just watered it down after using engine degreaser...

mm.. come to think of it.. you guys think engine degreaser could have anything to dowith it? i've used it before and it didn't give me this kind ofa problem.... ??

The reason the Spark Plugs are black is because they have not been firing the Fuel Mixture Properly, which is causing the engine to run very rich. Most of The Spark has been averted away from the Spark Plugs due to the water/condensation conducing the spark before reaching it's intended target.
Before Taking it to the Mechanic just try a couple of things:-

                    1. Remove Old Spark Plugs and toss over shoulder.

                    2. Take the Spark Plug Wires out of the Spark Plug Tubes.

                    3. Using Brake Parts Cleaner, Spray & Dry the Following with Compressed Air.
Spark Plug Tubes in Cylinder Head
Spark Plug Wire Ends (Both Ends)
Spark Plug Wire Rubber Boots (Underside)
                    Spark Plug Wire Stems.

                    4. Fit NEW NGK Spark Plugs.

                    5. Spray All Electrical Connections around Dizzy & Alternator with CO Electrical Contact Cleaner and Dry Off.

Make sure everything is dry, especially the underside of the hood as the Condensation can drip down onto the engine.
Note: After the Engine is washed and dried off, with the hood closed, the heat of the engine still creates condensation inside the components.
Just like the Old Experiment with the Plastic Sheet over a Hole left in the sun.

i have good news for you... i just saved a bunch of mony on repairing my car... lol... thanks for the help guys specially alex and f22-guru. apparently it was the sparkplug wires my mechanic said. I'm not sure exactly what he did but he fixed it. He didn't charge me, but scolded me and asked me to replace my Autozone sparkplug wires to OEM honda spark plug wires.

so all i need to do is buy those wires from honda now as well as new NGK plugs.

                      thanks guys!
