Man, Who is this AUTOZONE mob?
We don't have one here in OZ, and by the sounds of it, thank fuck we don't.
Everyone that has bought shit from them has had to take it back.
Sounds like they should rename themselves to "DODGY BROTHERS INC."

We have a PEP PARTS, and I'd say they would be the AUTOZONE equivalent.

We have REPCO AUTO PARTS, who are one of the top aftermarket & non genuine Parts Retailers in OZ. They have a very good reputation and they are the ones most of us professionals use. They mainly sell all the OEM Stuff, Like Monroe, Bendix, PBR, Ryco, Gates, Bosch, NGK, GMB etc.

Yeah, AutoCrap... You can return the alternator for a full refund if you want. Then, I would go to Honda and order a Genuine Honda Re-manufactured alternator. They are like brand new and they make no wierd noises. When I first bought my car, the previous owner put in some AutoZone looking alternator about 20K miles before I bought it and it already had a bad bearing... not to mention it was over-voltage.

And that would more than likely be the noise. The alternator overloading.

no the bearing was definately bad when I took it off; it had a lot of play. but what I meant was it was producing too-much voltage for the car... something like 15-16 V. All my lights were super-bright which was kinda cool, but some of them ended up burning out because of it. When the A/C would turn on, it would freak out and make the idle jump for some reason. it was a bad experience. The Honda alternator is like butta. All the wierd sounds and the idle prob went away. not to mention it doesn't do the thing where you drop to idle, and your headlights go dim. i HATE that

Autozone ,, is a cheap parts store that most of do it yourself go to , because they save money upfront .. you won't see any real professional buying shit there , especially if they have to warranty parts and labor when doing a job.....Like i said i tried to save some people money because they were broke and installed a couple of Autozone alternators, i warranty my work for 1 year or 12k miles whichever comes first ,,well i got bit in the ass on both occasions ,, i would get the part for free but i had to redo the labor for free as well ............so no more DEADZONE for me..

Do not buy alternators. starters. compressors from them you wil regret it,. unlees youy plan on selling the car soon after the repairs ,,

I just tell my customers now If they want cheap non genuine shit fitted to their car then I won't warrant the repairs under my Workmanship Guarantee, especially if they request cheap secondhand parts or supply the parts themselves.
I just got stung by putting 2 Second Hand Hubs on a Subaru Liberty. The customer didn't want to pay over a thousand bucks for a New OEM Part. Guess who had to front the replacement labour. The Part Supplier will be getting a Bill for my Labour Soon!!
Fuck 'em mate, If they want to do it on the cheap then that's the risk they have to take. Either that or do it themselves and have all the headaches that come with it. Some people have got no idea what it takes to run a business.
OK I got that off my goat, I'll fuck off now!!
