    Very slight vibration..

OK, want to figure out what my problem is. Been going on for a few weeks, and finally a weekend to troubleshoot, and figure out what the hell is causing it.

I have a vibration at idle and anywhere else. Hard to explain.. but its a vibration enough to loosen screws in the engine bay. everything has to be tight, or it will wiggle loose. When the car is running, if I hold the throttle open just a little (2000-2500rpm'ish) and just hold it there (by throttle rotor), I can feel the engine vibrating like its coughing or misfiring (if it did it any less, you wouldnt be able to notice). It will hold whatever rev's you want it to, but you can tell its not as healthy as it once was. Im going to do a compression check tomorrow, any other things that I could test/rule out?

When driving, if accelerating slightly hard, the vibrations will get worse as you are coming up on 3k rpm... just for maybe 50rpm, not all the time though.

The vibration isnt a huge vibration... its that vibration that is just enough to annoy you since it finds anything that is loose in your car and will make it rattle.

any ideas? maintenance wise, all is pretty good. plug wires checked out ok, plugs are slightly white on the tip/metal arch part, and have some black sootish stuff around the base, but nothing extreme.

not burning any oil or using a bunch of gas, or oil leaks.. just a freakin annoying vibration.

    compression test results are

    250, 250, 248, 250.. good there

    any ideas?

also took off the balancer belt just to eliminate a somehow bent shaft.. no help there.

the vibration does not stop when clutch is engaged.. so its not the clutch.

motor mounts, doubt it since i had a front insert before, and the engine never had this "shake" to it.

I would guess to the ignition system, but if you say it all checks out...

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

plugs are maybe 5k old.. dont look too bad
plug wires, checked the resistance and they are good
      looked at cap/rotor, look new

haynes kinda suggests plugs/fuel filter, so i guess they are cheap and easy, so may try them.

Anyone know if the compression test will tell you if you have a f'ed up valve?

checked everything, and most of it is fairly new. May end up replacing cheap stuff for peace of mind.

Yup, running the NGK - whatever the factory reccomends.

Dont have a noid lite... never even heard of one!

edit: cant remember if f22 injectors are the same.. but could swap them in if need be since I have an extra IM lying around.

yeah, was hoping that was my problem, but no luck.

edit: put balance shaft belt on again (took it off to see if vibrations would change) and may... may have been the problem. The little alignment mark on the rear pulley doesnt really look like its sitting dead on w/the mark on the oil pump assy. Before it was slightly above (depending on what angle you looked at it from), so I did it one tooth retarded, and seems to have liked that more. Either way, its not worse.. but car is on stands so cant really tell. Gonna put it together, then WASH it again.

but it seems the birds at my work want me washing the car every weekend. it'll be clean up until friday, then it gets plastered with POO

Why not park the car somewhere else or buy a gun and shoot the little cunts.
