ok i did a search and i couldnt find anything but ive heard some people talk about oil catch cans and i was wondering what are they used for....i mean obviously catching oil but how come?

It catches the oil in the air that routes from the block (top of the valve cover) back to the intake manifold. It really catches quite a bit, I empty mine almost once or twice a month.

Basically it catches blow by gases. It prevents carbon and sludge from developing in your intake stream.
