It is technically a switch (on/off), but I believe it's more commonly called a sender. I'll take a look at the service manual I have on my hdd and see what it comes up with (not a Haynes manual BTW)

    F22A1
    custom'ish turbo setup
180 whp/217 ft-lbs super hot, super humid, super rich, boost falling off at 8psi
    18psi boost spike = BOOM!!!!!

ok today i made the same long trip to class....it was giving me the same problem today..oil light was coming on at idle with the correct amount of oil in the engine. If you press teh gs pedal the light goes away and when you let off it comes back....so I tried my own test and turned the idle screw up a small bit. On the way back home est. 30miles or so it did not do it once. Once I got home I let it idle for about 1 minute and then turned on the ac full blast, the rpm's drop as normal and then the oil light flickers on again.

      Any ideas?

I will be going to the local honda dealer and having them look at it next week maybe.

      Thanks

What is the Oil Pressure Reading
        Should be
        10 PSI @ Idle
        50 PSI @ 3000 RPM.

BTW: Any Dings in the Sump??

By an oil pressure test gauge and connect it up to the engine.

Replace the oil pressure sender before going to the stealership. You will need like a 22mm socket just FYI. Not positive if its 22.. but know its big.

Do you have any other noises coming from the engine...on startup? When was the last time you changed the oil? Is there ever any crud in your oil? If its been a little while on the oil change, try that also.

You can do the oil press. sending unit when there is oil in it... so dont worry about that.

go to a honda dealer or advanced auto and tell them that u need an oil pressure sending unit

Yea, i would do what geoff said and hook up a mechanical gauge to check oil pressure, make sure its at specs.... your pump could be going bad and causing too low pressure at idle which triggers the switch...

Also make sure the Base Idle is set to Specs. So the IAC can compensate for Load changes.

what is the spec for idle rpm?

after cleaning the IACV I had to adjust the idle a bit to keep it running..

maybe I did not make it high enough the first time..right now it idles between 750-800rpm and I haven't seen the light since I made the adjustment to 750-800rpm..

could this have been my problem?

Thanks for all the info guys

                          Fixed

the problem was the oil pressure switch/sender/sensor...
thanks guys for all the feedback and help...
