    the never ending belt squeal!!!

well...had the alt/ac belt snap on me a few months ago on a long road trip, went to one of those rest stops and they replaced the belt for me. afterwards the belt started squealing. when i got home i replaced the belt with a oem honda belt... and the squeal was still there...i've used everything from belt dressing to freaking cooking oil (okay, that's just a joke). i tension the belt and it goes away for like a day...then it comes back....any idea's? maybe the pulleys have gone bad??? suggestions please!!!!

Are you sure all the pieces for the tensioner are still there?

Do you have a manual so you can check all the pieces and also make sure you're doing it properly?

It is your tensioner being either too tight or too loose. When your belt is squeeling that is your belt getting eatin apart. Make sure its not too tight/loose. Then your problem will be fixed!!

do this the belt area in between just behind the altenator push down on it if it feels flimsy and loose then it needs to be tightened

Obviously the guy knows that it's loose, and how to tighten it. Assuming he's doing it correctly, maybe something is stripped or missing.

          Any new devolpments?

My belts squealed because my crank pulley had oil on it. Food for thought

my belts squealed bc of a) belts b) too loose c) aluminum pulley so some anti-squeal compound was used in combo with the proper belt tension after PROPERLY breaking in the belt

i have the same problem coz I just had the alternator replaced and now my belts squeal everytime I start then It would stop squealing for the rest of the trip until of course I stop and start my engine again, any thoughts on this and if it is in regards to tightening or loosening can someone tell me how to do this? Thanks!
