Does anyone know how involved putting a new water pump on a 90 Ex would be? I am not sure of the engine code. Could someone walk me through the basic steps?
Generally, if the water pump is making a moaning noise or if you suspect low flow, it's failing. Other than removing it to have it checked, there's probably no easy way. They should be replaced every 100,000 miles or so anyway.
Weep holes...coolant will come out if the shaft seal is going bad.
yep..... and temp is rising up until it overheats.. my water pump juz got busted today..far away form home the temp is rising real bad then i noticed coolant is dripping like a waterfall (well not really), but yeah real bad.
Local Mechanic told me that I have to remove the engine mounts on the right side and jack it up. Is this true?
It may make it easier for you to get your hands/tools in there and work, yes. I've done this when doing timing belts/water pumps with the motor in the car. Seriously though, who cares? It's not a major project that you need to do alot of research for first. It's only a water pump man, grab your tools and have at it!
I had to pay around $500 to get it done with the timing belt on my first car. It did seem pretty involved and I'll be attempting to do it myself on my 2nd cb7. When you change the pump, you might as well change the timing belt also since you will have the space to.
