    Water Pump?

Does anyone know how involved putting a new water pump on a 90 Ex would be? I am not sure of the engine code. Could someone walk me through the basic steps?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    1. Stand up and locate car keys.

    2. Pick up car keys with right or left hand and place in pocket, or hold.

    3. Walk towards nearest easy exit from your home.

    4. Extend right or left open hand and grip the doorknob. Disengage knob lock and any deadbolts, if applicable.

    5. Turn knob with a motion from your wrist so as to free the door from the jam.

    6. Pull or push knob to swing door free and create ample space for you to walk through.

    7. Step outside through the opening you just created and reverse the steps of opening the door.

    8. Walk towards car and insert key (refer to step 2).

    9. Rotate key in door lock cylinder to unlock.

    10. Pull door handle to swing door towards you.

    11. Get in the drivers seat and close/lock the door.

    12. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and turn to start car.

    13. Drive car to nearest auto parts store and buy either Haynes or Chilton's reference/repair book for 90-93 Accord.

    14. Read the damn book and then replace the pump! It's EASY!

Generally, if the water pump is making a moaning noise or if you suspect low flow, it's failing. Other than removing it to have it checked, there's probably no easy way. They should be replaced every 100,000 miles or so anyway.

Weep holes...coolant will come out if the shaft seal is going bad.

Local Mechanic told me that I have to remove the engine mounts on the right side and jack it up. Is this true?

It may make it easier for you to get your hands/tools in there and work, yes. I've done this when doing timing belts/water pumps with the motor in the car. Seriously though, who cares? It's not a major project that you need to do alot of research for first. It's only a water pump man, grab your tools and have at it!

I had to pay around $500 to get it done with the timing belt on my first car. It did seem pretty involved and I'll be attempting to do it myself on my 2nd cb7. When you change the pump, you might as well change the timing belt also since you will have the space to.
