car died on freeway and won't start

hey everyone, i'm new to this thread, but i've heard people got some help. i'm not that into engines and cars, but i was wondering if i get some input.

my car died on the freeway today going about 90. wouldn't start up(it would be like a dead battery sound - turning but no engine start). i had it towed to a mechanic about 1 hours away (enough for the car to cool off?) and the mechanic put the key in - it started over and over again.

no codes from the mechanic. anybody have this before?

hey if your engine is turning over, without any drag but won't start... You should check your timing belt I think it just broke on you. Let me know, because this has happened to me too. Just take off the valve cover inspect for any signs or wear or tear, hope this helps, later....

If i am reading your post correctly, it would not start on the freeway, but when the mechanic got it, it started consistantly? If that is the case I'd look at the ignitor/coil. Those are known to go intermittent before going bad. Well, I know the ignitor is. Good luck.

my car died on the freeway once. turned out it was the ignition coil got disconnected from one end. I thought i had broke the timing belt. But to check it if it was your belt, take off the oil cap from the valve cover and crank the engine. If you see the camshaft move, you are good, if not, you need a new engine buddy.

Could it possibly be the main fuel relay? I've heard that it's quite common in Hondas. I know for sure that it's a common problem with gen 2 Integras. The ignitor is another common problem area but not as common as the MFR.

turn the ignition on without starting it and listen for the click/hum of the fuel pump. that will tell the story.

should be your ignition system. my car died at 60mph. and it wont start at random times...and sometimes it would fluctuate like my car is going through a seizure.

took it to honda and had to get a whole new ignition.

When my MAIN RELAY went out, it was freezing cold outside (usually they die on you when it is hot, and then after they cool down you can restart the car) but mine just died.
Replaced it $74 Asheboro Honda, and the car is running great now.

its your ignition switch , does it start slow sometimes then just start up?
gauges go crazy for a sec then back to normal. if so its the ignition switch.

just buy one or go to junk yard and get one easy to put in

Just check for spark if you have an internal distributor then its the internal coil if not and its an external it can either be the coil or the distributor. I seriously doubt its the fuel pump or main relay. Stick a screwdriver in the first sparkplug wire in cylinder 1 and leave the screw driver jsut in between the metal lip on top of the valvecover and have someone look at it as you try to crank the car over if you dont see a tiny blue light or spark then your distributor or coil just too a shit on you.
