    Clutch Problem

Okay, my car idles fine if I'm sitting in neutral with the e-brake or brake on. But when I'm stopped at a red light with the clutch in and the brake on, the idle goes down really low, bounces up a bit, down real low again, almost dieing out, and sometimes stalling.

It seems like my clutch isn't fully disengaging.

    Any ideas?

well to test it out....if your car is in gear but the clutch is in and its stalling its prob your clutch..however put it in neutral then push in your clutch..if it doesnt stall or sputter deff your cluch...but if it does...its not your clutch cause you already in neatural

How is your idle regardless of the clutch condition?
Are you leaking a little fluid by your clutch pedal? meaning, fluid on your shoes?

It could very well be your master cylinder or slave cylinder...when was the last time you checked(remember, these cars are over 13 years old).

If your clutch master cylinder is faulty, it puts down wrong power to the wheels...examine the CMC first...if your idle is fine, then that's all good...

(Accords have hydraulic clutches right? cable? sorry, im new to 4th gen Accord!)

The car has like over 300,000, with the engine being rebuilt around 50,000 ago. I've never really had anything in it checked as I had just bought it a few weeks ago.

My idle is fine if it's just in neutral without the clutch in (I turned it up today, prior to this it idled a little bit too low). I don't think any fluid is leaking.

You said the car almost starts to stall too...

How's your battery? other misc. things that can cause this...

Simple test about the clutch issue. When your idle goes down, and you think it's gonna stall, take your foot off the brake. If your car rolls forward, on a flat surface, then yup, your clutch isn't disengaged all the way and like someone else mentioned, it's a problem in the hydraulic system. Etheir the Master or Slave Cylinder is bad or there isn't enough fluid in the system. If air, EVER, got in there, and the system didn't get bled, I promise that's your problem. I know this from personal experience

Good luck on solving the problem.

                    The Tempest - It's a 90...the 88-89 has minor differences..bumper, tailights, instrument guages, ALB, motor...subtle things...

Air in the clutch system shouldn't be your problem...air in the system means your clutch pedal is about to go limp...excuse the pun...Have you adjusted the pedal downwards recently?

It could be something else...air in the coolant lines maybe causing such a bounce and almost stalling...

Oh, that's 300,000KM, not miles, so it's not quite as much as it seems.
