    can wont go past 5k rpm

    the car starts do do a poping at 5k rpm from the exhaust and the car doesnt go anywhere it loses power

    alternator....check voltage, or distributor, my shit did the same when both went out...differant times of course, but it did itmore with the distributor, soo...eya hope that helps

      someone else had posted earlier that when the timing belt was replaced on there car the timing was set wrong and it wouldn't go past 5,000 RPM's also.
      It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

        hmm yes that sounds right too, cause if the timing is off thats what causes theproblem andthe timing set wrong or the distributor goin out and making the timing off, would all cause this..so have it checked out

          i changed the ignitor but that didnt help

            That sounds electrical to me...

            Q - after 5k, does your tach fly but no speed? if so, then that's your clutch pedal needing to be adjusted so the clutch transfers power correctly...

              Its not the ignitor, its the dizzy assembly itself.

              I had the same problem on my sedan, I just never revved up that high, until I had to pass people. I replaced fuel pump/filter, cap/rotor, wires, spark plugs, ignitor, and figured it was the cat being clogged since it kinda sounded like a backfiring sound. Replaced the whole distributor assy. and solved it.

                  distributor this happened to 2.2hooptie and myself when i switched engines jsut recently for a reason ofcourse for my balance boost project in the works look out
