    Coolant leaking-Hopefully a minor threat

i noticed a small pool of coolant beneath the car today. its somewhat directly beneath the air filter area. i wanna know what can cause this and what i can do to fix/replace it. i been searching for the past hour and i read about heater cores being a problem,i read about waterpumps being a problem. i read through all those threads and there were too many things to worry about. most of the time those dudes didnt describe where their leak was coming from. so im hoping my description can help pin-point something to look for. coolant level was full just two nights ago. now its an ounce or two lower than it was so im worried.

the best way i can describe the location would be:

when you're inside my passenger side seat (shotgun) with your legs straight under the glove box,the leak is somewhere beneath your left foot.

by passenger side could be coolant overflow tank, hoses, or part of radiator.....if it is more cnetrally locatedit is probably the radiator itself......just take a look during the day and look for leaky hoses. if the leak was on the drivers side, that could be the water pump. just check and see.....worst case senario u have to replace a radiator.....best case senario= need to get a new hose or two. good luck

i truly doubt its the radiator, although im probably in need of a new one. the leak seems further back. i was told to pressure test her,but what do i do for that? what do i need? cant a fellow NYC cb7'er help a poor ass ***** out? come on now, cats dont even wanna steal my shit cause they feel disrespected to even touch her,yet i love her to death

A pressure test... puts pressure on the coolant system. The air pressure will force coolant out the leak (if there is one). The coolant leaking out will displace the pressure and the pressure gause will go down in pressure. Coolant leaking on the passanger side could be either a leaking hose connection ( like the one that goes to the thermostate housing. Or the by pass hose.
It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

No need to pressure test. Get a good flash light and take a look. What you seek, you shall find.

Sounds like you have a leak near or around the heater core. I'd look close to see if you can find any wet spots around the fittings or hoses there.

replacing anything in the cooling system except the pump is a breeze.....just takes a chilton manual, some good tools and some patience.

Could very well be a pressure leak. Mine was doing this for awhile when I first bought my car. Only happened when I turned the heat on though. Turned out to be a pressure leak. What a bitch that was to find though. I put my car up on a ramp, turned the car on and let it start leaking, then broke the flashlight out and started searching. Oh yeah, and this was at 10:00 at night . I don't even remember what hose it was, just that autozone gave me a replacement and said it was a "cut to fit" job. Bullshit. If my hose clamps weren't as good as they are, I'd still be out the hose. The hose i think was like 10 bucks. But that may also be high balling too.

cut to fit hoses means you have to cut them to fit. there not already cut to fit. i know its confusing but they have to be cut.

cut to fit = you have to cut them to fit.....get it?

ok heres a pic of an engine bay i found on google. i made a yellow perimeter of where i THINK the leak is coming from. i checked around there and i did see some moisture, but wasnt sure if its coolant or not. could of been the snow melting as i was tryna' dig my car out. BUT within that yellow perimeter BENEATH the car, thats where i located the drips of coolant.
