    changing the valve cover gasket

i am gonna try and tackle this in the next day or two here. i bought one today and i have never changed one by myself before. so, are there any special instructions on doing this? do i have to tighten the bolts in any certain order? do i have to use some sort of silicone gasket sealer or anything? i have a haynes manual, will that suffice? any help is appreciated as i dont want to fuck anything up unneccessarily.

nothing to it,take the old one off replace the gaskwt, theres also 4 little gaskets that seal the spark plug holes, you dont need gasket maker with that but i use it.tighten them down to the torque specs and do it like an x.

Make sure you dont pinch the gasket as your tightening the valve cover down. I did that once and oil started leaking all over the engine. Also make sure you clean out all the old silicon, so that it dosnt create bumps.

i changed it sunday. it wasnt too bad, but it was really messy. I ended up painting the valve cover red to match the intake pipe and the heat shield. i had a gasket that didnt use silicon, the felpro i think, it said not to use silicon. i dont think it solved my problem, but i do think it was a needed change.
