    transmission differences

Hey, I need a new transmission for my car and want to keep the longer Accord gears for highway driving so naturally, want to keep away from the Prelude transmission. But, what are the differences in the Accord transmissions between 1990 and 2002? I'm guessing the 2002 probably has some minute differences that I'd want to steer clear of but if not I'm open. Also, if anyone knows their ratios, that would help too. Thanks a lot.

Pretty much all the same, though I would stay away from any of the OBD2 transmissions (96 and later). 94-95 Accord transmissions would be a very good choice. We rarely see any problems with them.

What's the difference with an OBD-2 5-Speed? It's still a mechanical transmission. The only real difference I can see is the ATTS transmissions.

a H23 manual trans might be a sweet option with a decent highway gear and shorter gear ratios than a F22 trans....

just a thought, got this info from peeps on here...it's in my plans

The only electrical connections to the transmission that I can think of are the speed sensor and the reverse sensor. Maybe on OBD-II transmissions, the connector was different. Kabuki, any personal experience with the '96-'02 transmissions? Not that I've got my mind set on an F23 transmission, just wanting to know how broad my search field is when I go looking. Thanks a lot for the help.

Haha! Sorry guys... I was thinking Automatic Transmissions... Ha! In that case, they are all very much the same design, and we don't see ANY problems with the newer units. They seem tobe just as, or MORE durable than the original 90-93 units. Remomber that you can also get the transmission out of the 2.2 and 2.3 CLs.

It's basically the same shit as the H22A tranny (USDM atleast) the H22 is just a cunt hair shorter. At 4K in 5th I'm doing 80mph so it's not much different then the H22.

Does anyone know if there are differences between models in the same year... I am looking for a 5 speed for my Accord and a local place has a trans from an LX, is this different from one from an EX, EX-R?

The original automatic trans is pretty well shot now, due to my the pic in my signature...

My manual shows the same gear ratios.
