Hey, I need a new transmission for my car and want to keep the longer Accord gears for highway driving so naturally, want to keep away from the Prelude transmission. But, what are the differences in the Accord transmissions between 1990 and 2002? I'm guessing the 2002 probably has some minute differences that I'd want to steer clear of but if not I'm open. Also, if anyone knows their ratios, that would help too. Thanks a lot.

The only electrical connections to the transmission that I can think of are the speed sensor and the reverse sensor. Maybe on OBD-II transmissions, the connector was different. Kabuki, any personal experience with the '96-'02 transmissions? Not that I've got my mind set on an F23 transmission, just wanting to know how broad my search field is when I go looking. Thanks a lot for the help.Last edited by Jarrett; 02-14-2004, 12:08 AM.My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Haha! Sorry guys... I was thinking Automatic Transmissions... Ha! In that case, they are all very much the same design, and we don't see ANY problems with the newer units. They seem tobe just as, or MORE durable than the original 90-93 units. Remomber that you can also get the transmission out of the 2.2 and 2.3 CLs.Visit us at http://www.valleyspecialists.com for all of your Honda and Acura service needs!

Does anyone know if there are differences between models in the same year... I am looking for a 5 speed for my Accord and a local place has a trans from an LX, is this different from one from an EX, EX-R?
The original automatic trans is pretty well shot now, due to my the pic in my signature...
