my fresh air/recirc/AC backlight bulb just burned out. Do I have to tear the whole dash apart or can i get to it if i remove the radio and go underneath? anyone ever do this?

The entire air control console will have to come out. I have one spare if you're interested; I just have to dig it out my storage unit.
To my recollection, keep in mind its been about 2 years now, the center radio/dash bezel will have to come off, and the heater door cable behind the console will have to be disconnected as well as the wiring harness. The car I experimented on didnt have a radio which made life easy.Last edited by ACCORDianate; 10-13-2005, 02:17 AM.Former: 90 Accord EX Coupe, 93 10th Anniversary in Frost White

Yeah, unfortunately the climate control has to be removed to gain access to the rear for bulb removal/replacement. That, of course, involves removing your head unit/stereo & the black trim surrounding the entire dash.
Very time consuming but you get used to it. If you got the time/money since your back there you may want to think about replacing all the bulbs behind your gauge cluster (total of 7 if I recall correctly - I just did mine, good thing too since 2-3 of them started dying on me already).
Just a thought though.
Also: about the climate control - no need to unscrew anything in the rear to replace that bulb - I did that by mistake on another unit. Just search for the socket towards the bottom middle.

Bringing back from the past...
I noted my air/recirc/AC backlight bulb just went out. Thanks to other posts like this one: I understand that there are two bulbs for the backlight. One for the top buttons and one for the bottom buttons.
I understand the bulb is a NEO-WEDGE (14V 100MA) T3, and can be accessed without removing the temp. control or PCB (if staying OEM), but if I also wanted to replace the bulb that backlights the two knobs, which is that?
***Ok, I just found this from cp_mike which says that one is a #74 (14v, 1.4w just like the cig. light & ashtray). single #74 bulb
post #159.
I noted on the Honda EPC it is not its own part, aka it cannot be ordered from Honda (like the others above) it appears to be part of the whole cc unit: knob bulb?
I recall others noting the same in the past, and wondered why while its shown, its not a part I can order.
Also, only the dash trim needs to be removed (and all switches in its path), not the radio or center console right? And the ashtray bracket can be left intact?
Thanks.Last edited by mrvinyl33; 12-07-2007, 03:46 PM.'92 Accord LX Sedan--Bordeaux Red Pearl --OEM--279k Daily Driver

Bump
Is there anywhere else other than the Stealership to get the NEO-WEDGE (14V 100MA) T3, the bulb that lights up the buttons on the Climate Control? I went to AUtozone, and they didnt have anything (Like usual)
