    Clutch q's (h22sparkle!!!)

    1. Are OEM Prelude clutches stronger than ours? I.e. are they all made for the VTEC engines?

    2. h22mike- My shop wants $375 to do my clutch, and that's if I bring it in. If I help you out and everything, how much could you help do mine for, and could we do it in a day? PM me man, my sh*t is on it's way out and it's getting cold. You know I'll hook you up too cause I owe you one. I know you're the swap master but can you do clutches too? I feel like it would all be the same sh*t.

Haha!! Backyard power over here...My suggestion is...drop out the whole engine to remove the tranny, it cuts down on time. You don't need to unplug anything, maybe the radiator hose at most.

I wouldn't go thru that hassle. we just disconnect the tranny from the car. The hardest part for me was disconnecting the axles.

Yea somehow I feel like just disconnecting the axles and tranny would be easier, as ultimately I'd have to disconnect the tranny anyway. I have a dude at the store I work at who works on CB's so I'm gonna see if we can finnagle something out, or if he has the tools at his house to do it on a collective day off. If me, him and h22sparkle can all get together on one day we should def. be able to knock it out in a couple of hours, no problem.

The thing is you get quicker with these jobs with experience. The first time I did my suspension it took me 3 days (one full day was spent on one back spring). Now, no joke, after loosening the bolts I could knock one out in about 2-3 hours on my own. So I figure if I have this guy who's done a clutch and h22mike, the swap master, working with me, I'll save a lot of time and learn the same amount. Plus, I don't plan on swapping clutches too often anyway...I don't really need to 'learn it' per se.

For me, i always end up having to remove all the mounts anyway to get the right engine angle...to drop the tranny out.. Thats why i just drop out the engine.

                      Whats that..4 bolts...raise frame, remove tranny, slap on clutch..slap on tranny...lower car...put 4 bolts back...simple.

So you are saying that you just drop the engine with everything still connected so you can take the tranny out easier?

Pretty much, you do not need to fight an angle or anything... I am not saying jack the car up high so that all the wired and hoses stretch. Jack it up enough so that the tranny can come out and so that you have room. You should have the engine sitting on something..nothing under that tranny. Jack up the car maybe 10 inches...give or take and work from the passanger side.
