actually stock filters are paper elements, were as aftermarket like the k&n are a made out of a fabric gauze type material, you could use electro wash which is alcohol base and i use it to clean the filter on the lawn mower just spray on the side that the air is draw too cleaner side

i know this is a VERY old threat but didnt want to start a new one for a simple question.
i have the k&n cleaning kit but have a dry air flow AEM filter. Has anyone used the cleaning kit for the filter.

And no you cant use the recharge kit on a Dry flow filter
