    Ignition switch problems...

Hey guys i've been having problems with my car starting in certain degree tempatures, so i figured it was time for the main relay. Anyway i put in the main relay and now i'm having a totally different problem. My car will start and automatically die after it fires up. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the ignition switch. When i turn my car to the acc. pos. no lights come on in my dash, like the normal check engine, oil, etc.

Could this be a fuse or relay or the whole damn ignition system needing replaced?

Also do i need to buy a new ignition with a key and locks and all that fun stuff? or can i swap just the electrical part of the ignition?

Anyway any help will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.

your not supposed to get lights on acc just the "on" postition. if you have a voltage meter you can check the ignition wire for voltage before spending 100 on something that might not be the problem

Well i think its the on position, it's the second click before you turn it over, when all your lights come on, and they don't. That's why i was thinking it was a fuse or a relay, but i guess it could be the ignition.

Another thing i noticed a day before it did this was the guages jumped liked the battery was about to die, When you hit the blinker or the lights to use power all the guages started bouncing, And i have a 3 month old alternator i put in with a 1 month old battery.

Is it possible for those warning lights or whatever they are not to come on before you start you're car, if it's the ignition? Or could that be something else? And normally the car beeps three times too, it doesn't, even with the new main relay, and my battery is fine, the car fires up and stays running if i hold the key.

Also would it be a bad idea to pick up the ignition part from a junkyard? or should i go for OEM from the dealership? Thanks again guys!

I pulled the ignition switch and went to a junk yard with no success in finding one, going to go tomorrow to check out another yard to see if i can find one, i'm going to attach the main relay to that connecter for a buy 1 get 1 free deal to the yard i hate , fuckers charge way too much, but have so many parts.

Good thing between me and my mom we own 3 cb7's. I pulled the ignition switch from our 90 that needs an alternator and put it in my 93 and it fired right up, so i'm 100% sure its the ignition switch. And i noticed taking it out yesterday that you can actually just take the switch off the tumbler, so anyway thanks guys.
