    Battery cover ?

While at the pick 'n pull, I came across an OEM battery cover. p/n# 31510-SM4-A02.

Its that plastic piece that goes around the terminals and one side of the battery.

Seeing this, I realized when I had my battery changed last, it went MIA at the dealership.

Obviously it was in there for a reason. I don't know if they broke the one I had or it just didn't fit the new OEM battery. I picked it up, & was going to pull the battery & add it on the one that is there now. Am I missing something? This item doesn't sound too important.

        JAYdEEMM yo!!!
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Are you talking about the battery blanket? This item was an option, while the battery cover was standard. The battery blanket can be bought, but I have no idea what it looks like. Does anyone know what its for? The battery cover is required to block engine heat to the battery and make sure you have the battery hold down as well.

Yes, the p/n above does refer to the battery cover, that is what I was asking about.

I guess the local dealership didn't feel it was so vital...well I have one now, so I'll see about putting one Back on.

Re: battery blanket, I haven't see it either but I thought that it was just that, to wrap the battery for extremely cold climates. Maybe someone here from the Great White North has that and the optional engine heater installed?

Ok, well I removed the battery--not a bad idea every so often, since I cleaned out and unclogged the battery tray underneath. Thankfully nothing had gone bad as I haven't had a leaking battery & I keep the engine bay clean. Sprayed the bolts for the tray to make sure they don't rust out.

I have the hold down (which could use a repainting) and I added the plastic cover as it should go, but apparently the OEM battery I have now, has the posts reversed so the cables plug towards the front as opposed to the back, so the holes on the cover are opposite where the terminals really are. Obviously cannot turn the battery around.

I supposed a few things changed from Honda's OEM supplier in the past (Delco) to what I got a few years back (Interstate). Maybe that's why the dealer didn't bother...but its back on.

The battery is faces opposite of how it is here:
