    Failed 2nd DEQ test (results)!!

Well here are my results from my second DEQ test, and as you can see it failed. It is a bit better since I put in the p13 this weekend but the guy there said I'm running extemely rich and thats why I'm failing. I plan on putting on a new cat., but I don't think that will get me through but I really have no clue what else to do. You guys have any ideas??

HC is your distribitor not working right...replace the rotor and distribitor cap and possibly the wires.

co is mainly carbon in the system, usually i push the car to redline to get it out and put some fuel injection cleaner and good gas to get that lower.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!

The distributor cap is off the F22 because the H22 came with a broken one and the rotor is brand new, as for the wires the are the ones that came with the motor so I could try and replace that.

I ran it ran it in 3rd gear all the way to the testing site (15 miles or so) all highway, I thought it was going to blow up. but yeah I'll try putting some fuel injection cleaner in there and see if that helps at all.

Any other ideas that might help? I'm open to anything

          change ur oil...

fuel injector cleaner will act as a octane booster...but id rather use a cleaner than a booster...

perhaps u didnt change the rotor inside the distribitor only changed the cap....

changed the oil on sunday, and the rotor was changed per Hmotorsonline 100% start up garauntee requirements. I'm still going to get a new catalytic converter but that isn't going to solve all my problems. He told me I was running really rich, maybe that has something to do with my shitty gas mileage.

Are you using the injectors that came with the engine? Higher flow injectors will make you run rich. You may also want to have a look at your EGR system. Remove the valve and clean it's orifices, then reinstall with a new gasket. If you find a chunk of carbon holding the diaphragm open, then that is most likely the problem.

You may also want to inspect your exhaust. Any holes in your exhaust can throw off the readings too.

if u want to know if ur egr is good or not look at the NOx numbers. if they are high then its going bad.

but if u have aftermarket or high flow injectors then it will put more fuel and can show up as a "gross polluter" in the charts and really really show in other tests...i doubt that is ur problem.

but if u think about it it can affect other things...hehe i should look under mine

i passed my test with flying colors..

                  15mph test:
                  co2%- 15.20
                  O2- 0

its hard for me to fix this so here is the format (maximum--average--measured)

                  HC(ppm)-(118--31--20)
                  CO(%)-(.75--.10--.07)

                  NO (ppm)-(799--237--373

                  25mph test***
                  co2-15.10
                  o2-0

                  (maximum--average--measured)
                  HC(ppm)-(93--20--9)
                  CO(%)-(.63--.09--.01)
                  NO(ppm)-(738--199-436)

id get a friends CAT that jus tpassed hahah...fuk a new one

I just got done talking to my father in law and when he put the motor in he took off the fuel pressure regulator because he didn't think it was needed. I don't know if that is my problem, but I was a little pissed because it seems like a necessary part to me

im surprised smog didnt see that. well that can be apart of the carbon maybe apart of the hydro carbons.

damn so that kinda means u been dumping fuel....

I don't think they don't do visual inspections in washington. The guy who did my test just told me that there is no limit on how many tests I have and I can just keep coming until I pass. Oh and my father in law can't find the FPR so I might have to get one, is there one you would reccommend?

its either stock for 60 or an aftermarket one but those are mad cash...

i think i need a new one cause my gas milage is shit....

iono man...man u guys got it made with smog...they visually inspect here and everything, and have harsher smog requiarments....

haha and we can only take it back once for free to get it re-smogged....

if you have a vafc you can always lean it out that way. wont fix what the real problem is, but at least you can pass smog.
